London 2012 Lessons with Neil Lasher (former ASTD UK president)
Enjoyed the London Olympics last summer?
Seen by over a billion people worldwide, the summer Olympics is run by a select few specialists and thousands of volunteers.
Neil’s involvement with the London Olympics 2012 started in 2010 when he was part of a small team training 1500 interviewers, along with them he helped to interview 100,000 volunteers. The next stage was to work with a specialized set of 25 trainers who delivered leadership training to 12,000 team leaders. Finally he took a contract for three months as Field of Play Group Leader to deliver Modern Pentathlon.
As a contractor in the last three months Neil both delivered and attended very many different training courses working from inside the organization instead of his normal role of delivering as a consultant from the outside. What he saw and learned has changed his outlook to training.
The challenge was a worthy match of Neil’s extensive experience in the workplace learning & performance field. Neil helped coordinate, plan, and lead teams for this event and shares his takeaways with us.
