Social Learning:  Strategies for Applying the Social Learning Techniques to Enhance Training Events

Many trainers continue to rely on real-time instructor-led training (whether classroom or webinar-based) as their primary form of training delivery.  With the availability of cloud-based social learning platforms, trainers today have the opportunity to easily and cost effectively incorporate new approaches.  Social learning tools and techniques offer the promise of amplifying the student value of the training experience by turning class audiences into learning communities and repurposing training materials into online learning repositories.  This presentation will:

  • Explain the student and trainer value proposition of social learning
  • Offer techniques to integrate social learning tools and technologies into existing training
  • Outline commonly available tools to enable social learning

At the end of the program, we will have a raffle for our attendees.  Our giveaway?  Books on Social Learning..including The New Social Learning by Tony Bingham and Marcia Conner.

Special event PRIOR to the program:

Prior to the start of the program, we will have a short presentation on the chapter activities in 2012, spend some time recognizing our valuable volunteers and have information available about our Special Interest Groups and CPLP (Certified Professionals in Learning and Performance) study group.  There will also be members with the CPLP designation available to talk about their experience going through the CPLP certification process.
